Outstanding performance
Wolverhampton Wanderers•MidfielderWolverhampton Wanderers delivered a commanding performance to secure a convincing 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in this Black Country derby. The Wolves midfield duo of João and Rodrigo Gomes proved instrumental, with the former breaking the deadlock in the 61st minute following a sustained period of pressure. Villa struggled to create clear chances despite Amadou Onana's missed header from a corner just before the opener. The match was heavily influenced by physicality, with six yellow cards issued across both sides, but Wolves maintained their composure to seal the points through Rodrigo Gomes' stoppage-time strike.
