Fortuna Sittard
Outstanding performance
AZ•MidfielderAZ dominated from the opening exchanges at the AFAS Stadion, putting Fortuna Sittard to the sword with two early goals that effectively settled the contest. Mexx Meerdink broke the deadlock after 11 minutes with a composed left-footed finish from Isak Jensen's assist, before Sven Mijnans doubled the advantage just four minutes later with a stunning long-range effort that flew into the top corner. The home side controlled proceedings throughout, enjoying 55% possession and creating 42 dangerous attacks compared to Fortuna's 25, while their clinical finishing saw them convert two of their six shots on target. This comprehensive victory moves AZ up the Eredivisie table and extends their good form, while Fortuna's struggles continue as they failed to mount any serious comeback despite making multiple second-half substitutions.
