MVV Maastricht secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over VVV-Venlo in a match that turned decisively on Gabin Blancquart's 55th-minute red card for a professional foul. The hosts capitalized immediately through Sven Braken's penalty, but VVV showed resilience with substitute Bjorn van Zijl equalizing five minutes after his introduction. Just when a draw seemed likely, Stan Van Dessel struck in the final minute to steal all three points for MVV. The victory lifts Maastricht's hopes in the Eerste Divisie table, while VVV's away form continues to be a concern after throwing away a potential point in the dying moments.
