Outstanding performance
Real Betis•AttackerReal Betis made the most of a numerical advantage to edge past Elche 2-1 in a match that truly came alive after the interval. Betis struck early through Cucho Hernández's measured finish from distance in the 9th minute, only for Héctor Fort to equalise with a fine top-corner finish just before the break. The pivotal moment arrived four minutes into the second half when Elche's Léo Pétrot was sent off for a foul, fundamentally altering the contest. Despite being the team with less possession — Elche edged the ball 55-45 — Betis were the more dangerous side, generating seven shots on target to Elche's two and exploiting the extra man with intelligent rotations, culminating in Pablo Fornals breaking the deadlock with a clinical strike from outside the area on 68 minutes. For Betis, the three points consolidate their mid-table comfort and underline growing cohesion under pressure; for Elche, a spirited showing until the red card ultimately counted for nothing, leaving them to rue both Pétrot's indiscipline and a profligate evening in front of goal.
