Spezia•DefenderSpezia looked set to claim all three points in this Serie B encounter after Gabriele Artistico's 69th-minute opener, but Empoli snatched a dramatic equalizer through Edoardo Saporiti's penalty in the final minute. The match was a scrappy affair with six yellow cards distributed as both sides struggled to find their rhythm in the first half. Spezia's late substitutions appeared to have given them fresh legs to see out the victory, but a penalty decision involving Saporiti turned the match on its head at the death. The draw leaves both teams in mid-table mediocrity, with neither able to build the momentum needed for a promotion push this season.
