Melbourne Victory•MidfielderMelbourne Victory delivered a commanding performance to dismantle Sydney 4-0 in what became a one-sided affair at home. The breakthrough came just before the hour mark when Clarismario opened the scoring, and the Brazilian forward quickly doubled the lead eleven minutes later to effectively kill the contest. Victory's dominance was complete as substitutes Keegan Jelacic and Jackson Lachlan added late goals to cap off a comprehensive victory that will significantly boost their position in the A-League Men standings. Sydney's evening was marred by indiscipline, collecting multiple yellow cards in a frustrated first-half display before capitulating completely after the break.
Melbourne Victory host Sydney FC in the traditional Australia Day 'Big Blue' at AAMI Park. With Victory struggling in 13th and Sydney sitting 2nd but coming off a defeat, this rivalry clash could spark either team's season into life.
