Sporting KC looked to be cruising after Taylor Calheira and Stephen Afrifa struck inside the opening 19 minutes, and the visitors dominated the underlying numbers throughout - out-shooting Dallas 26-15 and controlling 56% of possession. But Dallas showed remarkable resilience, ripping off three goals in a stunning 18-minute spell before the break through Logan Farrington, Petar Musa, and Kaick to lead 3-2 at halftime. Sporting KC's Calheira completed his brace to level things at 3-3 with 12 minutes left, setting up a tense finish that Dallas won courtesy of a controversial VAR penalty, converted by Musa in the dying seconds. Despite being second-best for large stretches - Sporting KC created as many big chances and doubled Dallas's corner and pass tallies - Dallas's clinical edge and defensive grit, evidenced by their 27 tackles to Sporting's 10, proved decisive in a match that swings the psychological momentum firmly their way heading into the title race.
