Outstanding performance

St. Louis City survived an early scare, falling behind inside five minutes, before ruthlessly exploiting Minnesota's defensive fragility with three goals in a devastating 20-minute spell either side of the half-hour mark. Carlo Holse and Rafael Navarro Leal combined superbly, with Holse's assist setting up Navarro's second-half penalty to make it 4-1. Minnesota pulled one back through Kelvin Yeboah's penalty just after the hour, but Kyle Duncan's second yellow card and dismissal in the 80th minute ended any hope of a comeback. St. Louis dominated the underlying numbers too, controlling 64% of possession and out-shooting Minnesota 14-11 with a superior 8-3 edge in shots on target, underlining a first-half performance that was as clinical as it was overwhelming.
