Outstanding performance

Santos blitzed Cruzeiro in a devastating four-minute window either side of the half-hour mark, with Rollheiser converting after a flurry of chances before Fabrício Bruno turned into his own net moments later to hand the hosts a two-goal cushion. From there Santos controlled proceedings comfortably, racking up 31 shots and 13 corners to Cruzeiro's 9 and 3 respectively, dominating the ball and territory throughout. Cruzeiro, despite creating more big chances (4 to Santos' 1), were wasteful in front of goal and could only pull one back through Matheus Pereira in the 90th minute, by which point the game was already decided. The result keeps Santos firmly in the title conversation while Cruzeiro's profligacy in a match they controlled little of will be a concern heading into their next fixtures.
