Outstanding performance

Santos blitzed Internacional in the first half, going 3-0 up thanks to Gabriel Barbosa's brace either side of Matheus Bahia's red card and a clinical Christian Oliva finish, exploiting space with just five shots on target from five shots total. Internacional dominated the underlying numbers all game - 15 shots, 45 dangerous attacks and 66 dominance rating to Santos' 48 - but were undone by ruthless finishing at the other end. Braian Aguirre's introduction at half-time sparked a fightback, scoring within two minutes of coming on, and substitute Bruno Henrique converted a stoppage-time penalty to make it a nervy finish, but Santos held on despite playing over an hour with ten men. For Internacional it's a damaging home defeat that raises questions about their inability to convert dominance into results, while Santos will take real confidence from grinding out a result away from home under such pressure.
