Outstanding performance
Cruzeiro•MidfielderCruzeiro dominated territorially from the outset, racking up 61% possession and doubling Athletico PR's dangerous attacks tally, and their control eventually told in a frantic finish. Matheus Pereira was the architect of the win, scoring the opener and later teeing up Lucas Romero for what proved the decisive second goal, while Kaio Jorge added gloss from the penalty spot in stoppage time. Athletico PR briefly threatened to spoil the party through João Cruz's leveler right before the break, capping a wild first-half spell that included a disallowed Matheus Henrique header and a saved penalty. For Cruzeiro, the win consolidates their push up the table, while Athletico PR will rue their wastefulness in front of goal despite matching their hosts shot-for-shot on target.
