Outstanding performance
Bahia•MidfielderAtlético Mineiro broke the deadlock through Ruan right on the stroke of half-time, converting from a corner after a period of sustained pressure that saw Ademir and Lodi both go close in the preceding minutes. The goal appeared to have given the hosts the platform to control proceedings, but Bahia came out with renewed intent after the interval and levelled matters through Ademir just before the hour mark, completing a swift turnaround that reflected their statistical dominance in shots — Bahia registered 21 compared to Atlético's 16, and created three big chances to the hosts' two, though they squandered three big opportunities in a wasteful display. Both sides finished the match level on possession and shots on target, painting the picture of an evenly-contested affair that ultimately neither team deserved to win outright. The draw does little to shift the dynamics of what is a tense title race, leaving both sides in need of more clinical performances if they are to mount serious challenges in the second half of the Serie A season.
