“Edson Carioca picked up the first booking of the match for a foul, setting an early physical tone that would come to define the second half.”
“Leozinho, introduced as a substitute, tested the Mirassol defence twice in quick succession with a left-footed effort and then a right-footed attempt, both blocked, keeping Athletico's pressure alive in the closing stages.”
“With just two minutes remaining, Kevin Viveros delivered the moment of quality this match needed, finding the net to give Athletico PR a 1-0 lead they would not relinquish — a clinical finish that punctured Mirassol's otherwise resolute defensive effort.”

Athletico PR
Mirassol
Athletico PR ground out a narrow but crucial 1-0 victory over Mirassol at home, with Kevin Viveros settling matters two minutes from the final whistle in a match that was far tighter than the scoreline might suggest. The statistics told the story of a genuinely balanced contest — equal possession, near-identical pass counts, and the same number of shots on target for both sides — yet it was Athletico who manufactured the one big chance that mattered. The second half grew increasingly fractious, with five yellow cards distributed across both teams and a flurry of substitutions from the 63rd minute onwards reshaping the shape of the game; Athletico's bench brought energy that Mirassol struggled to contain in the closing stages. For Athletico PR, who are hovering in the danger zones of the table, this hard-fought win will carry significant psychological weight, while Mirassol will be left to rue their inability to convert their defensive solidity into even a share of the spoils.
