Rosenborg
Viking
Outstanding performance
Rosenborg•AttackerRosenborg secured a 2-1 victory over Viking at home on Friday night, a result that will do plenty for their confidence and their standing in the Eliteserien table. Playing at Lerkendal, the hosts leveraged home advantage in what appeared to be a tightly contested affair, ultimately finding enough quality to edge out a Viking side that made them work hard for the three points. Viking's goal ensured the closing stages were anything but comfortable for Rosenborg, who had to hold their nerve to see out the win. For Rosenborg, sitting third in the table, this victory consolidates their position among the top contenders and keeps pressure on those above them, while Viking will be frustrated to have left with nothing from a match they clearly made competitive.
How entertaining was this match?
Second-placed Viking travel to Trondheim chasing Bodø/Glimt at the summit, while a resurgent Rosenborg side look to prove their 2-0 win over Lillestrøm was no fluke. With both teams expected to score and a recent head-to-head record firmly in Viking's favour, this Friday night clash is one of the most compelling Eliteserien fixtures of the week.
