Outstanding performance
Unión Santa Fe•DefenderUnión Santa Fe cruised to a comprehensive 2-0 victory over Deportivo Riestra in a match that was effectively decided within the opening half-hour. Marcelo Estigarribia's 21st-minute penalty gave the hosts the lead after Rodrigo Gallo's reckless challenge on Lautaro Vargas in the box. The visitors' task became virtually impossible when Yonatan Goitía was shown a straight red card just three minutes after being brought on as a substitute. With a man advantage, Unión dominated possession (75%) and peppered the Riestra goal with 20 shots, though they were surprisingly wasteful in front of goal, managing just one more strike to seal the victory. The comprehensive nature of this win, reflected in their 81% dominance rating, will boost Unión's confidence significantly as they look to climb the Liga Profesional table.
