Central Cordoba looked set to pull off a statement win after Leonardo Sequeira and Michael Santos struck in the space of a minute to turn a 0-1 deficit into a 2-1 lead, capitalizing on a spell of real intensity just before the break. But Estudiantes, who dominated possession (59%) and passing throughout, drew a penalty in the dying seconds of the first half and Edwuin Cetré made no mistake to level it at 2-2. The match then boiled over with two red cards in stoppage time, draining the second half of any real rhythm as both sides made wholesale substitutions. Despite Central Cordoba's superior shot count and corners won, it was Estudiantes' control of the ball and clinical late intervention that salvaged a point from what looked like a losing position.
