Outstanding performance

Aldosivi looked set to take maximum points after Andrés Vombergar's composed 18th-minute finish gave the hosts an early lead that they held into the break, but Unión Santa Fe came out an entirely different side after the interval. Sustained set-piece pressure — three successive corners in under two minutes — paid off when Lucas Menossi converted at the back post with an assist from Marcelo Estigarribia to level at 51 minutes. From that point, Unión's statistical superiority told: their 57% possession, 18 shots to Aldosivi's 13, and three big chances created to Aldosivi's none reflected a side that had been slowly building toward something, and Cristian Tarragona delivered it emphatically with goals at 62 and 64 minutes to make it 1-3. The final 25 minutes descended into ill-tempered territory, with three yellow cards handed out and Julián Palacios receiving a straight red at 85 minutes, leaving Aldosivi to contemplate a collapse that began the moment Menossi equalised.
