Fafe looked set to secure a crucial cup victory when João Oliveira's first-half strike gave them the lead going into the break. However, the match turned dramatically in the second half when João Gonçalo's red card for a professional foul as the last man left Fafe with ten men. Torreense immediately capitalized on their numerical advantage, with Manuel Pozo Guerrero finding the equalizer just four minutes after the dismissal. Both sides struggled to create clear-cut chances in a nervy finish, with Fafe's task made even harder when Costinha received his marching orders for a second yellow card in the dying minutes.
AD Fafe welcome higher-league Torreense in the first leg of the Taça de Portugal semifinals at Parque Municipal dos Desportos. The visitors arrive on a four-match winning streak, but cup magic could favor the determined home underdogs in this knockout showdown.
