“Demir Ege Tıknaz broke the deadlock for Sporting Braga, giving the hosts an early lead and setting the tone for what they hoped would be a dominant evening.”
Pivotal“Vincenzo Grifo levelled for SC Freiburg just eight minutes later, stunning the home crowd and restoring parity — though the German winger then compounded his team's ill-discipline by picking up a yellow card moments after scoring.”
Pivotal“Mario Dorgeles, who had been on the pitch since the 26th minute, delivered the winner in stoppage time to complete Braga's comeback and seal a vital Europa League victory, leaving Freiburg devastated after defending so resolutely.”

Sporting Braga claimed a hard-fought 2-1 victory over SC Freiburg at the Estádio Municipal de Braga on Thursday night, with substitute Mario Dorgeles breaking German hearts in the final minute. Braga started the brighter, taking an early lead through Demir Ege Tıknaz, only to be pegged back almost immediately by Vincenzo Grifo's equaliser — a double blow softened only by Grifo picking up a yellow card shortly after his goal. The hosts' statistical superiority was clear throughout: 58% possession, 13 shots to Freiburg's 10, and a dominant 65 dangerous attacks compared to Freiburg's 28, yet the scoreline remained level deep into the second half, a testament to Freiburg's resilience and their goalkeeper's four saves. A missed penalty from Rodrigo Zalazar proved the missed opportunity of the night, but Braga refused to panic, and Dorgeles — on for over an hour — punished Freiburg in the 90th minute to secure a Europa League result that will significantly boost Braga's continental campaign.
