Peru vs Spain - Friendly International

Spain's Star-Studded Side Tests Resilient Peru

European champions Spain take on Peru in a high-profile pre-World Cup friendly at Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla, Mexico. Despite being heavy favourites, Spain head into this clash off back-to-back draws, giving Peru a window of opportunity if they can stay compact and hit on the counter.

• •Lamine Yamal is ruled out injured for Spain, opening a starting berth on the wing for Nico Williams, Dani Olmo, or Álex Baena — a significant reshuffle to their most dangerous attacking unit.
• •Spain head into this match off consecutive draws against Iraq and Egypt, suggesting their clinical edge in front of goal is not yet at peak level — offering Peru a realistic chance to keep it competitive.
