Roma looked in total control after Manu Koné's brace either side of half-time gave them a commanding 2-0 lead, the midfielder finishing clinically from a free-kick-won opportunity and then poaching from close range in the six-yard box. But Inter turned the game on its head almost immediately after the break, with Lautaro Martínez pouncing on a fast break just a minute into the second half to halve the deficit. From there Inter poured pressure on, out-shooting Roma on target down the stretch and creating four big chances to Roma's one missed opportunity, and Martínez was rewarded for his side's persistence with a second goal in the 79th minute, converting from a corner to snatch a point. Roma will rue their profligacy in front of goal despite 18 shots and dominant dangerous-attack numbers, while Inter's ability to grind out a result from a losing position will offer real encouragement for their title ambitions this season.
How entertaining was this match?
Serie A's only two perfect sides collide at the Olimpico as Roma and Inter both bring four straight wins into a genuine early title-race showdown. Gasperini's high-flying Roma will test themselves against Chivu's free-scoring Inter side, with top spot on the line.
