Venezia controlled the ball with 63% possession and out-passed Fiorentina by nearly 220 attempts, but none of that mattered against a Fiorentina side that turned every half-chance into a goal. Akor Adams gave the hosts an early lead on the break, only for Franco Mastantuono to answer with two goals in the space of a minute, the second a rasping effort from outside the box. Mateo Pellegrino added a third from a fast break after the interval before Mastantuono completed his hat-trick with a close-range header in the 84th minute, and although Antoine Hainaut's second goal gave Venezia a stoppage-time consolation, the damage was already done. The numbers tell the real story of the gulf in quality: Fiorentina managed 10 shots on target from 19 attempts and created six big chances to Venezia's two, ruthlessly punishing a home side that huffed and puffed without ever really testing Filip Stankovic's opposite number.
