Outstanding performance

Santos Laguna controlled the game for long stretches, dominating possession at 58% and doubling Tigres' corner count 9-3, but couldn't turn that control into a breakthrough, managing just two shots on target all match. Tigres sat compact and disciplined for most of the contest, absorbing pressure and picking their moments on the counter, finishing with more shots overall (15 to 11) despite seeing far less of the ball. The match came alive only after the hour mark, with both managers making wholesale changes between the 65th and 76th minutes to try and force a winner, and it was substitute Ricardo Monreal who came closest with a well-struck effort that was well saved. For Santos, sitting mid-table, the result does little to ease pressure heading into a congested run of fixtures, while Tigres will see this as a solid point on the road that keeps their season on an even keel without denting title aspirations.
