Outstanding performance

Querétaro produced one of the most defiant performances of the Liga MX season so far, sitting 15th in the table yet dismantling a Tigres side that controlled 70 percent of the ball and generated 60 dangerous attacks. The hosts struck ruthlessly in a blistering opening spell — Alí Ávila broke the deadlock on 11 minutes after a sustained pressing move, and Mateo Coronel doubled the advantage seven minutes later from a corner, assisted by Santiago Homenchenko. It looked like a humbling was incoming for Tigres, but Rodrigo Aguirre's powerful header from a Juan Brunetta cross before half-time reignited the visitors, and Brunetta himself converted a VAR-awarded penalty on 61 minutes to level at 2-2. Yet despite being outshot 23-12, outpossessed, and out-created on big chances, Querétaro found a way — their winner in the closing stages, against the statistical grain, completing one of the more remarkable results of this early Apertura campaign and pulling themselves away from the relegation places with a priceless three points.
How entertaining was this match?
Querétaro arrive at La Corregidora riding a confidence-boosting win over Pachuca, while Tigres stumble in after a rocky start to the Apertura. Can the hosts pile further misery on one of Liga MX's traditionally elite clubs, or will Tigres' quality assert itself in Querétaro?
