Outstanding performance

Brest didn't need to dominate territory to win this - Le Havre actually edged possession 56-44 and dangerous attacks 71-32, but Brest were ruthlessly efficient, scoring twice from just a handful of clear openings while posting 9 shots on target to Le Havre's 4. The game turned in the first 12 minutes when Lionel Mpasi-Nzau's penalty concession and yellow card gifted Doumbia the opener, and it got worse for the hosts when Junior Mwanga was sent off right before the break for a professional foul as last man. Doumbia doubled Brest's lead early in the second half with a composed counterattack finish, and although Le Havre battled back to 10 men with spirit - forcing seven saves from Brest's keeper and eventually earning a late penalty of their own through Rayan Fofana - it was too little, too late. For Brest this result eases pressure and continues a run of good form, while Le Havre, playing at home with a numerical disadvantage for 45 minutes, will rue the individual errors that shaped the contest more than the overall play.
How entertaining was this match?
Neither Le Havre nor Brest have tasted victory yet this season, making this Stade Océane clash a must-watch for early bragging rights. With both sides drawing their way to modest points totals, something has to give as one club finally breaks through.
