Outstanding performance

Lugano smothered Lausanne from the outset, racking up 71% possession and 21 shots to just 7, and the game turned decisively in a brutal second-half spell. Hannes Delcroix was the architect of the destruction, netting in the 35th, 48th and 52nd minutes, the last coming just two minutes after Sekou Kone's red card left Lausanne with ten men and no way back. Karim Sow's own goal in the 61st minute, following an earlier yellow card and a difficult afternoon defensively, summed up a night to forget for the hosts. With six corners to one and 66 dangerous attacks to 29, Lugano's dominance was total, and this result will boost their title-race credentials while leaving Lausanne to regroup near the relegation zone.
