Bournemouth dominated the underlying numbers - 57% possession, 20 shots to 8, and a 65-45 dominance split - but couldn't turn that control into three points against a resilient Brentford side who scored with almost every meaningful chance they created. Kevin Schade was the difference-maker, heading Brentford in front in the 34th minute before completing his brace with a long-range effort in the 56th to cancel out Marcus Tavernier's go-ahead goal just four minutes earlier. Justin Kluivert's leveler on 38 minutes, following a save from his own earlier effort, showed Bournemouth's persistence, and Tavernier's cool finish from the left of the box after a corner suggested the hosts had done enough to see it out. Instead Brentford's clinical edge - just 2 shots on target from 8 attempts but two goals - proved the difference, with Caoimhín Kelleher forced into 8 saves as the away side rode their luck at times but left with a point that will feel like a moral victory given Bournemouth's territorial dominance and four missed big chances.
How entertaining was this match?
Bournemouth, still winless and rooted near the bottom, welcome an unbeaten Brentford side to the Vitality off the back of a morale-boosting Carabao Cup rout. Marco Rose's men have a habit of throwing away leads this season, and Brentford's five-point start suggests they're primed to punish it.
