Mechelen built an astonishing 3-0 lead inside 39 minutes almost entirely through Sint-Truiden's own mistakes, with two own goals sandwiching a close-range Simion Michez finish, despite being battered on the ball. The visitors dominated possession at 63% and doubled Mechelen's shot and corner counts, but their profligacy and defensive errors handed the hosts a cushion that initially looked unassailable. Samed Bazdar and Ilias Sebaoui dragged Sint-Truiden back into it either side of half-time, turning 3-0 into 3-2 within five second-half minutes, before Raman's clinical finish on 62 minutes looked to have settled things again. Frédéric Soèllé's late strike set up a nervy finish, but Mechelen's defensive resolve - 19 tackles and four saves to Sint-Truiden's one - held firm for a result that keeps them clear of the relegation zone while Sint-Truiden's wastefulness, despite four big chances created, continues to cost them in a season where they sit mid-table but clearly want more.
