“Jamie Roche fires Kortrijk into a shock lead with a left-footed strike from outside the box after Beveren failed to clear a dangerous free kick sequence.”
Pivotal“Back-to-back yellow cards for Brecht Dejaegere and Christophe Janssens as tempers boiled over amid Beveren's frustration at their inability to break through.”
“Jamie Roche booked for a foul, picking up a card just minutes after being the match's decisive figure, as Kortrijk battled to protect their lead with ten men.”
Outstanding performance

Kortrijk found themselves down to ten men after just 32 minutes when Johannes Schenk was dismissed for a professional foul as last man, forcing an immediate reshuffle. Despite the numerical disadvantage, it was Kortrijk who struck first and only, with Jamie Roche curling home from outside the box in the 52nd minute following a spell of pressure won through free kicks. Beveren dominated the underlying numbers, controlling 57% of possession and out-passing their hosts 526 to 386, but were toothless in the final third, managing just six shots and failing to register a single big chance. Kortrijk, by contrast, created five big chances and looked far more clinical when it mattered, holding on through a physical, card-heavy second half that saw six yellow cards shown as tempers flared, ultimately securing a gritty win against the run of play.
How entertaining was this match?
KV Kortrijk, winless and rooted at the bottom of the table, turn to interim coach Christophe Lepoint as they try to halt a horrendous six-game losing streak against a Beveren side that has been inconsistent but far more competitive this season. With Kortrijk having conceded 15 goals in six matches, this looks like a golden opportunity for Beveren to end their own away-form woes.
