“Substitute Hemsley Akpa-Chukwu broke the deadlock in stoppage time, giving Zulte-Waregem the lead against a tiring ten-man Kortrijk side.”
PivotalOutstanding performance

This was a cagey, error-strewn affair that stayed goalless deep into the second half before unraveling dramatically in the final minutes. Kortrijk's task became much harder just after the hour mark when Rok Štorman was dismissed for a professional foul as last man, leaving them to defend with ten men for almost 30 minutes. Zulte-Waregem, without ever dominating territorially, kept probing and their patience paid off in stoppage time as substitute Hemsley Akpa-Chukwu opened the scoring moments after coming on, before fellow substitute Zalán Átrok doubled the lead almost immediately after. Kortrijk's night ended in further misery as Rudy Kohon was shown a second red card for violent conduct in the chaotic closing exchanges, capping a bruising ten-card, three-dismissal encounter. Despite similar overall numbers - both sides finished level on possession and corners - Zulte-Waregem's greater composure and bench impact ultimately proved decisive.
