Outstanding performance

Burnley tore Watford apart in a ruthless first-half spell, scoring three times between the 13th and 25th minute to end the contest as a contest almost before it began. Jacob Bruun Larsen opened the scoring with a clinical finish, Zeki Amdouni doubled the lead within six minutes, and Reo Hatate - after setting up the first goal - got on the scoresheet himself to make it 3-0 before the half-hour mark. Watford actually edged possession (52%) and completed more passes with better accuracy, but Burnley's clinical edge in front of goal and superior chance creation (3 big chances to 1) told the real story. Marcus Edwards added gloss with a late strike in the 87th minute after coming off the bench, capping a dominant away display that will boost Burnley's push up the table while leaving Watford to regroup after a chastening home defeat.
