Sheffield United controlled this one from the moment Patrick Bamford broke the deadlock just before half-time, and they never looked back. Tahith Chong doubled the lead early in the second half before Bamford added his second with 13 minutes remaining, completing a comfortable afternoon's work despite Lincoln City actually edging them on shots and dangerous attacks. The visitors created more big chances (3 to 1) and had more of the ball in the final third, but wasteful finishing and a clinical home side meant none of that physical dominance translated to the scoreboard. For Sheffield United this is another step in the right direction up the table, while Lincoln City will need to turn pressure into goals if they want to avoid a long season of near-misses.
