PivotalOutstanding performance

Portsmouth flew out of the blocks, taking the lead inside four minutes through Zak Swanson only to see Blackburn respond almost immediately via Oladapo Afolayan. The visitors then edged ahead through Ryoya Morishita's 56th-minute strike, capping a spell where Blackburn punished Portsmouth's generosity in front of goal. Despite dominating the underlying numbers - 20 shots to 8, 30 dangerous attacks to 18, and 63% game control - Portsmouth were made to work for their equalizer, which eventually came through substitute Colby Bishop in the 74th minute. The result leaves Portsmouth mid-table and frustrated by their profligacy in front of goal, while Blackburn will rue failing to hold onto a lead built on clinical, low-volume finishing.
