Outstanding performance
Real Betis•GoalkeeperReal Madrid controlled this match by every measure that matters on paper - 58% possession, 18 shots to 9, six big chances created against Betis's one - yet found themselves picking the ball out of their own net in the final ten minutes. Betis, content to sit deep and absorb pressure with 24 tackles to Madrid's 5, waited for their moment and struck through substitute Troy Parrott, who bundled home a rebound after Nelson Deossa's header was saved from a corner. Madrid pushed hard for an equalizer and hit the woodwork through Mbappé, but their profligacy in front of goal - six big chances missed - proved fatal. For Betis this is a statement result against a heavyweight rival, while Madrid's title challenge takes an early dent despite their overwhelming control of the game.
