Outstanding performance

Barcelona needed a response after falling behind inside 12 minutes to Sergio Camello, and they found it in emphatic fashion, ripping off three goals in a 22-minute spell either side of halftime through Raphinha, Yamal and a Jules Kounde strike to seemingly settle the contest before the break. Rayo Vallecano refused to fold though, with Camello's second - a header from a corner - cutting the deficit to one just after the hour and injecting real tension into a match Barcelona's numbers say they should have controlled comfortably. The hosts' 69% possession, 26 shots to 11, and 84 dangerous attacks to 34 tell the story of sustained territorial dominance, but it was moments of individual quality from Raphinha and Yamal, plus an unfortunate Florian Lejeune own goal, that ultimately separated the sides. For Barcelona this is a statement result to open the season top of the table, while Rayo will take heart from Camello's finishing even in defeat.
How entertaining was this match?
Barcelona look to make it three wins from three as they host a Rayo Vallecano side still searching for their first victory of the season. With Camp Nou form on their side and the title race already tight at the top, Barça will fancy their chances against a Rayo team missing key defensive pieces.
