2 – 1
Did it deliver?
Partly. The match was lively and turned on a second-half swing: a comeback, a penalty and a red card. The final scoreline was tight and the pre-match hype was only moderately matched, though the drama arrived in a compressed burst.
Dynamo Dresden took an early lead through Nicolai Rapp, who finished off a scramble after Daferner and Covic had both been denied, and they then absorbed pressure. Hannover 96 dominated the numbers, with 23 shots to 11, 64 dangerous attacks to 31 and six big chances, but wasted four of them and needed until the 54th minute to level. Husseyn Chakroun scored from a Benjamin Källman assist after a corner. The match turned when Dresden's Friedrich Müller was booked on 59 minutes and sent off for a second yellow on 65, shortly after Marcel Hartel's penalty had put Hannover 2-1 up. Hannover then managed the game against ten men. Dresden's keeper made four saves to keep the margin at one, and the home side's wastefulness meant the finish was tenser than the stats suggested. The result lifts Hannover's form and leaves Dresden with a damaging defeat built on an indiscipline-driven collapse.
