Atherton Collieries vs Irlam - FA Cup

Atherton Collieries put in a polished FA Cup performance to dismiss Irlam 3-0, rarely looking troubled across what appeared to be a controlled and professional display. Playing with the assurance of a side sitting comfortably in their league's upper reaches, Atherton controlled the tempo and made their superiority count across all phases. Irlam, by contrast, struggled to build any meaningful pressure and will look back on this as a heavy lesson in the gulf that can exist between sides in these early FA Cup rounds. The result keeps Atherton's cup run alive and provides a confidence-building platform ahead of what figures to be an important stretch of their season.
