Whitstable Town vs Newhaven - FA Cup

Whitstable Town produced a commanding performance to demolish Newhaven 5-0 in this FA Cup preliminary round tie, leaving no doubt about their superiority from early in the contest. The hosts appeared to press high and exploit Newhaven's defensive frailties relentlessly, turning a potential cup tie into a comfortable afternoon's work. For Whitstable, this result will do wonders for momentum and confidence heading into a demanding league campaign, while Newhaven face the sobering reality of a heavy cup exit that will demand serious reflection on their defensive organisation. Newhaven offered precious little going forward and were undone repeatedly, suggesting a gulf in quality between these two sides that the scoreline made brutally clear.
