Outstanding performance

Celta Fortuna made the perfect start through Óscar Marcos inside eight minutes, but Sporting Gijón responded emphatically through Antonio Casas, who struck twice before the break to flip the scoreline to 2-1. The turning point came right at the end of the first half when Pablo Meixús was sent off for a professional foul as last man, leaving Celta Fortuna to play the entire second period with ten men. Guille Rosas punished the numerical disadvantage with a third for Gijón on 60 minutes, and although Aldrine Kibet's 78th-minute strike set up a nervy finish, the hosts held firm. Despite being reduced to ten men, Celta Fortuna actually edged the underlying numbers with more shots (14 to 13), more big chances created (5 to 2), and four big chances missed - a wastefulness that ultimately cost them the points.
How entertaining was this match?
Sporting Gijón host a depleted Celta Fortuna side looking to shake off a painful derby defeat to Oviedo, but Jose Alberto's men are themselves missing a host of key players. With both sides hit by absences and academy prospects set to feature, this mid-table clash at El Molinón promises to be tight and low-scoring.
