Outstanding performance

Córdoba should have had far more to show for their afternoon, dominating possession at 62% and out-passing Valladolid by nearly 170 passes, but they were made to pay for their profligacy in front of goal. An early own goal from Miguel Rubio gifted the visitors a dream start, but Valladolid clawed level through Adrián Arnu right before the break after hitting the post moments earlier through Juanmi Latasa. The turning point of the match may well have been Latasa's saved penalty on 62 minutes, a moment that summed up Córdoba's day - all the pressure, none of the reward. Valladolid punished that miss almost immediately, with Víctor Fernández Durán and substitute Víctor Barberá adding late goals to complete a scoreline that flattered the home side but reflected their clinical edge, converting just seven shots on target into three goals while Córdoba managed only one from four.
How entertaining was this match?
Real Valladolid welcome Córdoba to José Zorrilla with both sides mired in the early relegation zone after underwhelming starts to the campaign. With Valladolid 19th and Córdoba 17th, this early-season six-pointer already carries plenty of weight for two historic clubs desperate to arrest their slides.
