Fenerbahçe were rocked inside ten minutes as Ebrima Colley equalised quickly after Vedat Muriqi's opener, but it was Mason Greenwood who seized control and never let go. The Englishman's goal on 20 minutes restored the lead, and he then set up Marco Asensio before adding a fourth himself early in the second half, turning what had briefly threatened to become a contest into a comfortable afternoon at home. Konyaspor were not without their moments — they actually edged possession and dangerous attacks, with Jackson Muleka Kyanvubu testing the goalkeeper twice in quick succession — but their finishing let them down when it mattered, and Fenerbahçe's superior individual quality in the final third proved decisive. A late Deniz Türüç goal gave the scoreline a marginally more respectable look for the visitors, but this was Fenerbahçe's day, and Greenwood's day in particular, as José Mourinho's side signal their title intentions early in the campaign.
How entertaining was this match?
Two sides already under early pressure meet at Şükrü Saracoğlu on Saturday, with Fenerbahçe desperate to bounce back from a season-opening defeat. Despite a raft of absentees and reported attempts to postpone the fixture, the Yellow Canaries are heavy favourites to claim their first three points of the campaign against a Konyaspor side also winless after round one.
