Outstanding performance

Al Diraiyah FC made the most of two clinical penalty conversions to edge out a spirited Al Fateh side despite being second-best for large spells of the game. Darwin Núñez opened the scoring from the spot in the 28th minute, and after Faisal Al-Abdulwahed's equalizer just seven minutes later, Adil Boulbina struck right at the end of the first half to restore the visitors' lead heading into the break. Al Fateh dominated the underlying numbers - 61% possession, 472 passes at 90% accuracy, and five corners to their opponent's four - but couldn't turn that control into a second goal, missing two big chances while Al Diraiyah were ruthless with theirs. The result keeps Al Diraiyah's momentum going in what looks like a promising campaign, while Al Fateh will be frustrated to come away empty-handed despite the lion's share of the ball and territory.
