PivotalOutstanding performance

Brighton were utterly ruthless in what amounted to a one-sided European procession, pressing Tromsø from the first whistle and wrapping up the tie before half-time. Roberto De Zerbi's side — or whoever oversees the Amex setup now — controlled 80 percent of possession and fashioned 16 shots to Tromsø's three, with the Norwegian visitors barely able to string passes together at 65 percent accuracy. The first half told the whole story: Charalampos Kostoulas opened the scoring via a corner routine on 22 minutes, De Cuyper added a second from close range on 33, and Mats Wieffer buried a third just before the break to make the tie a formality. Tromsø's two saves were the only moments their goalkeeper was properly called upon, and the mass substitutions at the break from the visitors' bench told their own story of capitulation. Olivier Boscagli added a fourth in the second half to complete the rout, and Brighton advance to the next round of the Conference League with something approaching contemptuous ease.
