North Shields vs Consett AFC - FA Cup

Consett AFC made the journey to Mariners Park and left with an FA Cup scalp, beating North Shields 2-1 in a fixture that saw the visitors show the greater composure when it mattered. North Shields, sitting in the lower reaches of their division at 18th and carrying inconsistent form, were unable to turn home advantage into a positive result against a Consett side that arrived with a clear game plan and the quality to execute it. The visitors scored twice to establish control of the tie, and though North Shields pulled one back to set up a nervous finish, Consett held firm to progress. For North Shields, it is an early cup exit that compounds what already looks like a difficult start to the season, while Consett will take significant confidence from knocking out opponents on their own ground and will look forward to the next round draw.
