2 – 3
Did it deliver?
It lived up to its billing: five goals' worth of tension, with four goals in a frantic 29-minute spell after the break and a winner only 12 minutes from time. The first half was cagey, but the second half more than made up for it.
Manchester City won a see-saw contest in Leipzig, edging it 3-2 after an unfortunate Castello Lukeba own goal gave them the lead before the break. Leipzig hit back immediately through Ridle Baku on a quick counter after Neil El Aynaoui's booking, and the second half became end-to-end. Enzo Fernández headed City ahead from an Iliman Ndiaye cross, Antonio Nusa levelled within three minutes after Christopher Nkunku's introduction, and Erling Haaland then finished from close range after Elliot Anderson's assist for the winner. City dominated the ball (65% possession, 676 passes, five big chances) while Leipzig fouled 20 times to City's 7, and that indiscipline gave City set-piece and free-kick platforms before the winner. The win keeps City's Champions League campaign on course, while Leipzig showed attacking threat but were undone by defensive lapses.

Martín Demichelis returns to his former club with Leipzig unbeaten at home this season, while a struggling Manchester City arrive without a clean sheet in six matches. With both sides needing points in the league phase, this has real edge.
City's main goal threat, and Leipzig have specifically identified the need to contain him. He could punish any defensive lapse.
Flagged as a key threat against a City defence that has been conceding regularly.
His pace and directness on the flank could exploit City's recent defensive vulnerability.
Leads a back line that has kept clean sheets at home, and he faces the task of stopping Haaland.
