Tunisia dominated territorially with 68% possession and 24 shots to Botswana's 6, but sloppy defending let their visitors in twice to snatch a draw. Botswana struck first against the run of play through Thatayaone Kgamanyane in the 38th minute, capitalizing on a set-piece heavy spell, before Hazem Mastouri's quickfire double either side of half-time - the second an early second-half strike - looked to have put the hosts firmly in control at 2-1. But Botswana refused to fold, with substitute Lebogang Ditsile leveling just six minutes after coming on, finishing off a Gape Mohutsiwa assist to make it 2-2 by the 60th minute. Despite creating nine corners and seven shots on target to Botswana's three, Tunisia couldn't find a third goal, and the result leaves them frustrated given their statistical dominance across the pitch.
How entertaining was this match?
Tunisia return home under pressure after a shock 1-1 draw with Uganda, with coach Mouine Chaabani declaring his side has 'no choice but to win' against a Botswana team fresh off their own 2-2 thriller with Libya. Both sides sit level on one point in Group H, making this an early but crucial test in the race for a qualification spot.
