Truro City controlled this FA Cup tie from start to finish, doubling up Merthyr Town in dominance (49 to 31) and out-shooting them 16-9. Will Dean broke the deadlock in the 26th minute, capitalising on Truro's territorial advantage, before Ben Starkie doubled the lead early in the second half to settle any lingering doubts. Merthyr never got a foothold in the game, managing just 44% possession and three corners, and their attacking threat rarely troubled Truro's back line despite five shots on target. The result sends Truro City through to the next round with confidence, while Merthyr Town will need to regroup quickly and refocus on their league form after a night to forget.
How entertaining was this match?
Truro City host Merthyr Town in a winner-takes-all FA Cup replay after a dramatic 1-1 draw in South Wales, where Tom Harrison's stoppage-time strike rescued a point. With no second replays in this competition, one team's cup run ends tonight at Truro Sports Hub.
