Haaland’s winner gives ten-man City the Manchester derby
Phil Foden’s early red card left Manchester City a player short. Erling Haaland’s 60th-minute goal still earned them a 1–0 win at Manchester United.

A goal after the setback
Foden was sent off in the 23rd minute with the game still goalless. Haaland broke the deadlock in the 60th, with Joško Gvardiol credited with the assist. City had been a player short for 37 minutes before they took the lead.
There was no earlier City advantage to protect when Foden left the field. Haaland supplied it later. United did not equalise, leaving that second-half goal as the difference at full time.
One contribution, the entire margin
For anyone following Haaland, the headline contribution is simple: one goal. Its importance comes from the score around it. He turned a level match into a City lead, and that lead became the final result.
