Outstanding performance

Troyes started brightly and led through Antoine Mille's ninth-minute finish, and the underlying numbers even flattered the hosts - more shots, more corners, more dangerous attacks across the 90 minutes. But Strasbourg's clinical edge told, ripping in two goals in the space of two minutes either side of the half-hour mark through Jacobo Ortega and Diogo Sousa to turn the game on its head before the break. Giovanni Reyna's strike just after the restart made it 3-1 and effectively settled the contest, before substitute Samuel Amo-Ameyaw's brace and further late goals from Conrad Harder and Jérémy Le Douaron turned a routine victory into a landslide. For Troyes, this is a damaging result despite dominating possession stats in areas that don't show on the scoreboard - 12 fouls conceded to Strasbourg's 4 and a defense that couldn't cope with the visitors' efficiency in front of goal. Strasbourg, by contrast, showed the ruthlessness of a side with genuine title aspirations, converting just 12 shots on target into six goals and proving that quality can trump territorial dominance.
